Episode 5: The Triune Brain Model and the Masculine Instincts

HIGHER BRAIN - the part of the mind or its “software” which contains the consciousness, executive function, decision-making or (conscious) volition, ethics or morality, both conscience and intuition, as well as left-brained (reasoning, logic, planning) and right-brained (creativity, art, spatial, mathematics, abstract thinking) faculties.

Part of the personality—the intellectual part—is the same in power and general nature among women and men. It is also the location of Observing Ego (mindfulness, consciousness), Personal Boundaries, maturity, and character virtue. It is where “partnership” occurs in relationships.

MAMMALIAN BRAIN - the part of the mind’s “software” which is “subconscious,” the border between unconscious and conscious, the center of the emotions, the limbic system, “signals” to pay attention to the environment and become conscious.

The self-esteem types of “well-being” and “confidence” reside where we are social, form friendships, feel love, and value things and people through emotional valence. Men and women feel the same emotions here.

REPTILIAN BRAIN - the software of the instincts, the unconscious, automatic behaviors including those for survival and reproduction—including the masculine and feminine instincts—it is of reflexes and the automatic functions of the body, the senses, felt senses such as passion and disgust, taboo, and is the place of habit, attraction, and sexuality.
